Watch this demonstration of using a rear-facing convertible car seat.

Rear-facing convertible car seats or rear-facing all-in-one car seats are a type of child restraint designed for newborns, infants, and toddlers. Check the weight and height to ensure your child will meet the requirements according to the car seat manufacturer. This car seat stays installed in the vehicle, allowing you to easily put your child in and remove them each time you use the car seat.

Minnesota law requires that you keep your child rear-facing for as long as possible—at least until age 2 and until they exceed the height or weight limits, according to the car seat
manufacturer. The rear-facing position help protect a child’s head, neck, and spine during a crash.

When installing the rear-facing convertible or rear-facing all-in-one car seat, follow both the car seat manufacturer’s manual and the vehicle owner’s manual. Never place a rear-facing car seat in the front seat with an active airbag; the safest place for your child is always in the back seat. It’s also recommended to have your car seat installation checked by a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.
